Fuel costs

So, yet again we are facing rises in the cost of fuel to power our Green Machines. While we moan about what it will cost to us little Jeepee owners, how about sparing a thought for all those other members that are running substantial larger vehicles such as Jimmy's, Dodges,Chevs, Reo's and Tanks? Now I know that some of these larger machines can run on virtually any liquid that one dares to put in the tank, but at less than 10 mpg the cost of driving anywhere is going to be a money pit to say the least.
Will this affect the numbers of members attending rallys that are not literally on their door step and will event organisers start to offer a 'fuel subsidy' for us to attend rallys? Maybe not, as this would mean an increase in ticket prices or stall-holder fees (as these can be OTT at some events already, so I'm told.)either of which will reflect in the number of public visitors, many of which like to shop as well as regarding the vehicles.
We are lucky in the South East corner, as there are quite a few events all within a 20 mile radius of, say, Dover, that will keep most of us going over the season without having to break the bank to get to them. But what about the members that drive from all over England to get to the main events like W&P, Chatham, Headcorn and Suchez or even to reach their nearest venue? And we still have the Budget to come!
At the end of the day, I will think that it will be like Fags & Booze. Each year the price goes up, but the bars and clubs are still full and those that smoke still will. If we are all Green addicts, then we shall continue our visits by not spending money on luxuries like, food, taking the wife out, buying the kids new shoes, pilfering the gas meter, disguising ourselves as an OAP and going to Age Concern for lunch (damn good three course dinner with coffee for £3.50!) or just winning the lottery, in which case, would you give a ----?
Whatever the relative governments do, those that have will, while those that don't - will borrow, but we will all be there enjoying the season around the campfire eating our dinner and having a few tinnies, watching the sun go down and having a laugh and a good time!
The season is almost upon us; bring it on!
